New Orleans second baseman Kazuyoshi Kichida had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Kichida slugged 2 home runs, even as Salt Lake City beat the Pelicans, 5-3. The winner was Salt Lake City reliever Irving Rose, now 2-1. The loser was Sergio Estrada. Getting the save was Mark Cahill, his 4th.

Orlando López aided the Salt Lake City cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman drove in one run.

"I think we all put in a good day's work," said López.

The Pelicans drop to 8-9 and continue their mediocre start to the 2015 season.
