Acorns Get Past Hollywood for 3-2 Win
|
The Oakland Acorns did just enough to sneak past the Hollywood Stars, 3-2, at Oakland Ball Park. Oakland pitcher Cecil Gibson, in particular, had a standout performance. Robinson Pérez, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. Early on, the Acorns, at 12-5, have excelled.
John Adams was the walk-off hero for Oakland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Acorns catcher hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Tough loss," said Hollywood manager Scott B. "But we'll learn from it."
