Héctor Peña pitched well, but his team, the Las Vegas Strip, still dropped a 4-3 decision to the Phoenix Fireballs at Banditos Ballpark. Keith Smith was the winning pitcher. Over 5 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 2 strikeouts. Dan Conway notched his 4th save of the season.

Stanford Reyes, who finished 5th in the CL in on-base percentage with .381 in 2008, had a direct impact on the outcome. Reyes contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put Phoenix up, 2-1.

"If we keep winning the close games," Reyes said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."

The Strip drop to 6-13, as their fitful start to the 2015 campaign continues.
