Millers Rack Up 7-6 Win Versus Houston
|
Houston second baseman Nathan Simon had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-6, to Minneapolis at Nicollet Park. Simon was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The winner in relief was Bob Coleman. He is now 1-0. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 4 innings. Picking up his 4th save was former first round draft pick Greg Smith.
The Millers got a big at-bat from center fielder Fred Aplin. For the game, Aplin went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Minneapolis a 7-4 lead.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Aplin told the Minneapolis News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
The loss lowers the Houston record to 13-7.
