Eagles Stumble, Lose to Cowboys
With right fielder Walt Kane leading the charge, the Austin Cowboys defeated the Dallas Eagles, 8-4, at Burnett Field. Kane, the 2nd overall pick in the 2009 draft, went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The Cowboys, now 2-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.

Austin used a well-timed hit by Victor McCullough to capture the win. The center fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Cowboys ahead, 4-1. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Our goal is to improve each and every day," Kane told the Austin Bulletin.
