Pantoja Fires No-Hitter Against Riverside
|
Santa Barbara Foresters starter Tony Pantoja came up big at Ballpark of Santa Barbara with an exceptional 3-0 win against the Riverside Firebolts. Not only did he whip them, but Pantoja held them hitless, too.
"My arm was a bit sore in warmups," confessed Pantoja. "Sometimes you go out there and you're not feeling all that hot. You get into the game and all of a sudden in the seventh inning you look up and see the scoreboard and think to yourself, 'Oh, my goodness, I have a no-hitter!' You're so focused on what you're doing, it just happens."
In the course of the no-hitter, Pantoja collected 13 strikeouts and surrendered 6 walks -- a day good enough to get his name in the history books.
This year, Pantoja has posted a 2-1 mark in 4 starts and has a 3.18 ERA.
