The Phoenix Fireballs defeated the Austin Cowboys, 9-7, in part because of left fielder Geoffrey Foster. Foster hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Fireballs. Phoenix reliever Jorge Padilla got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Rafael Infante was tagged with the loss. Dan Conway notched his 6th save of the season.

Phoenix used a clutch at-bat from Diego Hernández to capture the win. The pinch hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Fireballs ahead, 7-5. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a humdinger.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Hernández. "And not try to do too much."

The Fireballs, now 15-7, have been on a roll in the early going.
