Matsumoto Leads Beavers to 6-4 Win Over Stallions
|
Tadaaki Matsumoto helped his team muscle past the San Bernardino Stallions, 6-4. In the game, the Portland first baseman went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Jody Lange was the winner. Over 5 innings, he yielded 4 runs on 3 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. The Stallions fall to 9-12 and continue their sputtering start to the 2015 season.
Portland used a clutch at-bat from Jim Poole to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Beavers ahead, 6-4. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Poole told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
