Eagles Earn 6-5 Win Versus Austin
The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.

Austin got a terrific game from right fielder Walt Kane. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Dallas, 6-5. Kane went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Jeffery Clark, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-1. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Earning his 6th save of the year was Ray Gui.

The Eagles got a big at-bat from right fielder Rex Atkins. For the game, Atkins was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 6th double of the season gave Dallas a 3-1 lead.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Austin manager John Kolman. "But we decided not to take it."

Austin is now 10-12.
