Pelicans Get Clonked by Lone Stars, 8-4
|
The Houston Lone Stars polished off the New Orleans Pelicans by the score of 8-4. The largest share of the credit belonged to right fielder Israel González. González went 3 for 5 with a triple and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Lone Stars. Ron Dunlap snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 3-2 on the season. Houston sits at 17-10 in the early going.
Nathan Simon, who finished 4th in the CL in on-base percentage with .393 in 2009, chipped in a run-scoring single for Houston in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
