Locusts Squeeze By Homer, 6-5
|
The Salt Lake City Locusts defeated the Homer Yetis in 10 innings, 6-5, in part because of third baseman Murray Keller. Keller went 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Locusts. Mario Valverde closed the door for Salt Lake City, picking up his 2nd save of the year. With the win, Salt Lake City improves its record to 10-16.
Chris Gibson came through with a big-time hit for Salt Lake City. The left fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 6-5. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Salt Lake City manager Nate McGinty was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.
