Grizzlies Stay Hot With 8-6 Win
|
Portland left fielder Jim Poole had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Poole was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, even as Denver beat the Beavers, 8-6. Getting the save was Emílio González, his 2nd. The win takes Denver to 23-9.
Andre Parks had a big grand slam home run for the Grizzlies in the bottom of the third inning. With Denver trailing 4-3 and the bases loaded, he sized up a cutter from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Rod Lee and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Grizzlies on top, 7-4.
"We've been playing some good baseball," Parks told the Denver News. "We're aggressive and focused on what we're going to do on the field and getting it done."
