Ports Inch Closer to .500 With 4-3 Win
|
The Long Beach Ports locked up a win at Derks Field, knocking off the Salt Lake City Locusts, 4-3. On the mound for Long Beach was right-hander Cristo Alvarado. He played a major role in the triumph. Jim Rogers closed it out for his 5th save. The win lifts Long Beach to a record of 15-16.
Long Beach used a clutch at-bat from Glenn Bergeron to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Ports ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We did a lot of really good things and it was a good win," said Ports manager Jordan K.
