Valenzuela Leads Rainiers to 5-0 Win Over Strip
|
The Seattle Rainiers stymied the Las Vegas Strip, 5-0, at Sick's Stadium. Carlos Valenzuela had a good day at the plate. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3 for Seattle. The winning pitcher was Tony Domínguez. He's now 2-2. He went 7 innings, allowing no runs on 8 hits for the Rainiers. With the win, Seattle improves its record to 22-10.
Adolfo Napoleoni had a big run-scoring triple for the Rainiers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Seattle leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a fastball from Héctor Peña, who is tied for 4th in the PL in quality starts with 5, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rainiers ahead, 2-0.
Said losing manager Charlie Donovan: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
