Starting pitcher Dave Simpson gave the Minneapolis Millers a rock-solid effort. The Phoenix, Arizona native helped his team defeat the Salt Lake City Locusts, 3-0, at Nicollet Park. Simpson, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. The Millers sport a record of 16-28.
The Millers got a big at-bat from first baseman Jorge Bruno. For the game, Bruno went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Minneapolis a 2-0 lead.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Bruno.
