Carter Helps Grizzlies Defeat Pelicans, 9-7
Denver and New Orleans duked it out and the Grizzlies came out victorious.

The Denver Grizzlies used the hitting of left fielder Brian Carter to subdue the New Orleans Pelicans, 9-7. For the game, Carter was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Manuel Romero earned the win for Denver. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 11 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 4-1.

In the top of the third, Denver right fielder José Hernández had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Hernández stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 4-2, Denver. For the game, he went 2-5 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

In comments to the Denver News, Hernández admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."

The Grizzlies lead the Pioneer League North by 3½ games.
