Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Mexico City Aztecs and Portland Beavers.

In a low-scoring contest, Mexico City pitcher James Thomas was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 1-0 win. With the victory, the Aztecs upped their record to 24-22.

Thomas, who leaned on his cutter, allowed no runs on just 2 hits over 8 innings for the Aztecs. For the most part, Portland hitters were simply overmatched.

"James -- I just love the competitor in him," said Aztecs manager Jaime Martinez.
