Fireballs Rally to Win
Kevin Lyons was the difference-maker for the Phoenix Fireballs in what turned into a shootout with the Portland Beavers. Lyons, who finished 4th in the PL in hits with 166 in 2009, went 4-for-5 in the 12-11 Fireballs win. The winner was Mitchell White in relief. His record improves to 4-1. Gary Allen took the loss. The victory gives Phoenix a record of 32-25.

Phoenix used the timely hitting of Diego Hernández to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Fireballs on top, 12-11. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This is a resilient bunch," said Phoenix manager Jarien Smith.
