The Houston Lone Stars picked up a win at Clark Field, knocking off the Austin Cowboys, 5-1. Starting pitcher Alfonso Hernández was a big reason why. Houston leads the Pioneer League South by 3½ games.

Israel González had a big 2-run home run for the Lone Stars in the top of the fifth inning. With Houston leading 3-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from Rafael Infante, who is tied for 5th in the PL in strikeouts with 70, and punished it. The result was his 11th home run of the season, which put the Lone Stars on top, 5-0.

"I had a good game plan," said Hernández. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Eric Benson said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
