In a low-scoring affair between the Las Vegas Strip and the Long Beach Ports, pitcher Jesús García was the difference between victory and defeat. The Las Vegas right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-0 Strip win. García yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-4. Charles Chandler nailed down the save.
Las Vegas used the hitting of Raúl Ramos to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put the Strip on top, 2-0. For the game, Ramos had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I thought we competed really well," said Strip manager Charlie Donovan. "I thought the energy was really good."
The Strip raised their record to 22-34.
