Ironhorse Stadium featured a tense pitchers' duel.

Augusto Villarreal pitched a gem to lead Salt Lake City to victory over the Sacramento Ironhorse, 2-1. The winner was Villarreal. He threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Dave Sackett.

The Locusts got a big at-bat from right fielder Juan Luis Sánchez. For the game, Sánchez went 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Salt Lake City a 2-0 lead.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Sánchez.
