San Jose and San Bernardino duked it out and the Owls came out victorious.

The San Jose Owls besoiled an otherwise fine performance by San Bernardino third baseman Edgardo Martínez by beating the Stallions, 7-5, at Perris Hill Park. Martínez was 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. With the loss, San Bernardino is 3-4.

San Jose won the game in part because of Derrek Stevens. The catcher ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Owls ahead, 7-5. For the game, Stevens had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Stevens told a San Jose Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
