Portland-Sacramento Swap: Williams for Hammond

In a move that has fans in both cities buzzing, the Portland Beavers and the Sacramento Ironhorse have agreed to a deal that will have 23-year old 2B Mike Williams and a 1st round draft pick heading to Sacramento in exchange for 31-year old RHP Mick Hammond and 21-year old minor league RHP Jon Lindsay. Provided they pass a physical, the players should be with their respective teams in time for tomorrow's games.


A check of his lifetime stats shows Williams has played in 127 games with a .255 batting average. Among his 83 hits are 11 home runs. He has also scored 53 runs and driven in 49 runs.

In his career, Hammond has tossed 1842.1 innings, fanned 1813 batters and walked 562. His lifetime won-lost record is 85 wins and 132 losses with a 3.64 ERA.
