Mendoza Crafts 5-0 Shutout
Saturday, May 9th , 2015
All went well for Jackson Mendoza of the Houston Lone Stars as he pitched his team to a shutout victory, 5-0, over the San Bernardino Stallions, limiting them to 3 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about Mendoza on the day.
"Jackson's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said Lone Stars manager Eric Benson. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Houston left-hander rang up 9 and surrendered no walks.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Stallions manager Brick B. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
Currently Mendoza has a record of 5-0 with 45 strikeouts and 13 walks in 51 innings and a 1.94 ERA.
