Portland and San Francisco got after it at Multnomah Stadium.

The Portland Beavers topped the San Francisco Seals, 4-3, in Pacific Coast League action at Multnomah Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Portland pitcher Brent Phillips. Scott Witt was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 13 save opportunities.

In the bottom of the fifth, Portland third baseman Nathan Bartlett had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, Bartlett stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 3-2, Portland. For the game, he went 3-4 with 2 doubles.

"Brent gave us a really strong effort," said Portland manager Pete Donut.

Portland is now 36-36.
