Salt Lake City and Homer duked it out and the Locusts came out victorious.

Fernando Gimarey was a vital contributor to the 5-3 Salt Lake City victory over Homer. The Locusts right fielder went 1-1 with a home run and 3 walks. He scored 2 times. Salt Lake City reliever Irving Rose snagged the win, upping his record to 9-3. Robert Rice shouldered the loss. Mark Cahill earned the save, his 17th in 21 tries.

Gimarey had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-1 fastball from Robert Rice, he banged a solo home run to center, giving the Locusts a 4-3 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Gimarey.

"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Gimarey told the Salt Lake City Daily News.

Salt Lake City raised its record to 46-42 with the win.
