Downing Lays Hammer Down in 3-1 Win
Salt Lake City Locusts starter Jessie Downing turned in an exceptional performance against the New Orleans Pelicans at Derks Field, resulting in a Salt Lake City win, 3-1. Mark Cahill closed the door for Salt Lake City, picking up his 5th save of the year. With the win, Salt Lake City is 8-10.

Downing subdued the New Orleans offense. The Salt Lake City left-hander allowed a mere 4 hits over 8 innings, while fanning 11. His season record goes to 1-3 with the win.

"Jessie was outstanding," said Salt Lake City manager Nate McGinty.
